Young pets require a yearly checkup where the vet will examine their:

• Eyes, ears and general skin and coat health
• Dental health
• Cardiovascular system
• Respiratory system
• Gastrointestinal system
• Musculoskeletal system
• Weight, body condition and muscle condition

Ageing pets require more regular checkups, usually every 6 months. In addition to the above physical examination, the vet will assess for:

• Age related cardiovascular disease
• Age related cognitive decline
• Osteoarthritis

Your vet might also recommend a blood test to screen for diseases which become more common with increasing age.

Your pet might be predisposed to specific conditions because of their species, breed, age or body condition. Our vets are aware of this and your pet’s plan will be tailored to them.

At your pet’s yearly examination, your veterinarian will recommend vaccination. Core vaccinations are necessary to protect your pet from serious diseases that circulate in the local population of wild and domesticated animals. Additional vaccinations might be recommended for your pet depending on their lifestyle and social habits.

Your vet will recommend parasite prevention based on your pet’s environment at your general health check appointment.
